SparkIP Selected As Top 10 Recipient in Technology Association of Georgia Top 40 Award

Posted on: Wednesday, 27 February 2008, 09:01 CST

SparkIP has been selected as one of the top 10 recipient in the Top 40 Innovative Technology companies in Georgia by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), the state's leading technology organization.

Since the company launch in October 2007, SparkIP has nearly doubled the number of intellectual property listings on the site as well as increased the number of universities and research institution partners, making SparkIP the world's largest public marketplace for IP. SparkIP's data is self-categorizing and self-naming contextualized information that provides a virtual snapshot of the innovation universe. The site offers research tools, an IP marketplace for new technologies and a community where users and organizations can find each other and identify collaborative opportunities.

TAG annually picks 40 of the most innovative technology companies in the state, and then pares that down to a list of "Sweet 16" semifinalists and finally the Top 10. The TAG Top 40 winners were chosen based on a number of criteria, including: degree of innovation; scope and financial impact of innovation; likelihood of success; and promotion of Georgia's innovative efforts nationally and internationally. Companies selected to be in the Top 40 will also participate in a showcase exhibit at the Georgia Technology Summit, attracting some 800 of the state's technology leaders.

"Our congratulations to SparkIP for making this year's Top 40 list," said Tino Mantella, president of TAG. "Nearly 150 companies applied this year, the highest in the history of the Top 40 program."

"We are excited to have been selected as a TAG Top 10 winner," says Ed Trimble, CEO of SparkIP. "It is rewarding to be honored for making a significant impact on the technology community after only being in the marketplace for four months. SparkIP is proud to be a part of the innovative and creative thought-leadership taking place in the local community."
