Over 50 Vendors Developing Linux Devices With Trolltech Software; Leading Mobile Phone Technologies Built on Linux/Qtopia Platform Driving Expansion

Trolltech(R), a provider of leading technologies for Linux and cross-platform software development, today announced that over 50 vendors are designing, building or shipping devices based on Qtopia(R) and related Trolltech software for embedded Linux. Of these, more than 20 companies are mobile phone designers and manufacturers, signaling a surge in the market for handsets built on the popular open source Linux operating system.

Trolltech will highlight Qtopia and other Trolltech software for embedded Linux this week at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France in stand L24, Hall 4 and at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in Boston in booth 820.

Ningbo Bird: Ningbo Bird, the largest domestic supplier of mobile phones in China, has selected Trolltech's Qtopia as the software platform for all its Linux-based mobile phones. Ningbo Bird is targeting the launch of its first handset build on Linux and Qtopia, the E899 smartphone, for Q2 2005. Motorola: Motorola has chosen Trolltech's Qt(R)/Embedded Linux development platform as the foundation for its E680 and A780 mobile phones. The E680 and A780 represent the latest in a series of handsets Motorola is building on the Trolltech/Linux platform, following the extremely popular Motorola A760 phone.

Texas Instruments(TI): The Qtopia development environment and user interface for Linux-based mobile devices is now available for TI's OMAP(TM) processor, giving manufacturers a powerful platform to rapidly develop high-performance wireless devices based on the Linux operating system.

Yuhua TelTech: Yuhua TelTech, a top ODM (original design manufacturer) for mobile devices, has chosen Trolltech's Qtopia Phone Edition (Qtopia Phone) development platform and user interface as the software foundation for its upcoming Linux-based smartphone named Normandy, available in the first quarter of this year.

Datang Mobile Communications: Datang Mobile has chosen Trolltech's Qtopia Phone Edition (Qtopia Phone) for its Linux-based mobile phone reference platform. The first phone for the Datang Mobile TD-SCDMA Linux mobile phone platform has been available since October, 2004 in China.

Enteos: Enteos, a leading Italian developer of mobile phone technologies and mobile phones manufacturer, is developing two Linux-based smartphone platforms with Qtopia Phone Edition and Qt Embedded on the Freescale and STMicroelectronics application processors. Enteos' i-GO900, the first product based on these platforms, will be available on the market in Q4, 2005.

ARCHOS: The new ARCHOS Pocket Media Assistant PMA400 is the first hard-drive-based portable video player and recorder to feature wireless capabilities and Qtopia personal information management applications. Qtopia serves as the complete application environment, providing the interface, the PIM manager and synchronization with desktop programs.
