StoreForward Software Allows Retailers to Personalize the Customer Experience and Compete Against Mega-Discounters
Wincor Nixdorf, Inc., one of the world's leading suppliers of IT solutions for the banking and retail industries, today introduced StoreForward POS and Interactive software, powerful software solutions that allow retailers to deliver an interactive, personalized shopping experience.
StoreForward POS and Interactive software are Wincor Nixdorf's first software solutions for the U.S. grocery market. They are part of the StoreForward suite of products, which is being shown for the first time at Wincor Nixdorf booth #418 at the Marketechnics trade show, Feb. 13-15 at the Washington, D.C. convention center. StoreForward is a comprehensive store solution that combines Wincor's vision of in-store systems functionality, hardware, software, and service offerings with retail network infrastructure solutions from Sun(TM) Microsystems, Inc.
StoreForward Interactive is a powerful software application that bridges the gap between the customer, store marketers and headquarters. Designed for delivery at any customer touchpoint such as BEETLE POS systems and self-service devices, StoreForward allows customers to provide direct, instant feedback -- enabling retailers to gather relevant information about their customers, deliver the services and programs they want, and maximize profit opportunities. For example, customers can respond to surveys about service or product preferences, place orders for out-of-stock items, enter deli orders at kiosks, or order movie tickets, magazine subscriptions, and other products. The software's one-to-one marketing capabilities go beyond traditional loyalty programs and CRM to create a dynamic way for retailers to actively communicate and sell to their customers.
StoreForward POS is a robust server-based application that is optimized for cost-effective, highly reliable thin-client computing. Java, Linux and thin-client technologies reduce total cost of ownership and optimize functionality for in-store systems.
By utilizing a thin-client approach, point of sale software and all related data resides on a server. All updates and ongoing maintenance are performed at the server, with no software maintenance required on the checkout terminals themselves, decreasing support costs and greatly increasing system uptime. StoreForward POS includes an easy-to-use graphical user interface that reduces training time and has an extensive set of features that can easily be modified to a retailer's exact requirements.
"The combination of StoreForward POS and Interactive software allows retailers to deliver a dynamic shopping experience and take advantage of cost-effective 'store of the future' capabilities -- today," said Doug Evans, vice president of retail, Wincor Nixdorf USA. "With the introduction of StoreForward software, Wincor Nixdorf is reaffirming its commitment to offer innovative, end-to-end solutions that will help retailers differentiate themselves in today's ultra-competitive market."
