Micron Technology, Inc., Supports Intel's 'Lindenhurst' Platform with Functional DDR2 Modules

Posted on: Tuesday, 16 September 2003, 06:00 CDT

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 2003--Micron Technology, Inc. (NYSE:MU), today announced that it will support Intel Corporation's 'Lindenhurst' dual processor server chipset with the delivery of functional 256Mb-based registered DIMM modules. Micron is supporting Lindenhurst, which accesses memory at the DDR2-400 speed grade, with various module configurations. These configurations include single-rank 256MB (MT9HTF3272G-40EB1), dual-rank 512MB (MT18HTF6472DG-40EB1), and single-rank 512MB (MT18HTF6472G-40EB1) DDR2-400 registered DIMM modules. All of these products meet JEDEC DDR2-400 and DDR2-533 specifications.

"Micron's DDR2 memory technology is based on the industry standard DDR (Double Data Rate) SDRAM memory technology," said Pete MacWilliams, Senior Fellow, Intel Corporation. "DDR2 is the next step in memory technology, providing increased bandwidth, lower power and better signal integrity to support Intel's platforms in 2004 and beyond."

"We are working with Intel to insure that we meet the needs of emerging server technology," said Terry Lee, Executive Director of Advanced Technology and Strategic Marketing for Micron's Computing and Consumer Group. "256Mb-based DDR2 registered DIMM modules provide unique advantages for server platforms -- the 256MB density enables lower-cost 512MB dual channel systems and the 512MB density enables chip-kill ECC in 1GB server systems. We are now delivering 256MB and 512MB DDR2 registered DIMM modules to major OEM customers for use with Intel's Lindenhurst platform."
