Internet Media Technology to Acquire Patents for Digital Vending Machine
Posted on: Tuesday, 4 March 2008, 09:00 CST
Internet Media Technologies, Inc. (Pink Sheets:IMTG), announced today an update on the revolutionary Content Delivery Network (or "CDN") the Company has been developing as part of its plan to market all forms of digital entertainment, i.e., music, videos, TV shows, ringtones, etc., to consumers via satellite kiosks and vending machines. To fuel the Company's development efforts, IMT is set to acquire certain patents related to a unique type of digital vending machine. In addition to the planned kiosks, IMT has added these unique vending machines into the fold; these machines will also sell digital content products, and enable customers to listen to a brief sample, or view a video trailer, prior to any purchase. The digital content product can then be downloaded onsite to a customer's MP3 player, cell phone or company-provided USB flash drive.
IMT is planning for a September-2008 launch of its revolutionary content delivery network. The CDN will be comprised of both company-owned and third-party owned/licensed "Digital Docking Stations" and digital vending machines. The actual trademarked name of these kiosks and stations is being withheld during the development period; the Company plans to announce the name prior to its planned September rollout.
CEO of IMT, Romeo (Ray) Prescott, stated, "It is an exciting time in the entertainment and music industries. Digital content is the future, and it should be embraced by these industries rather than feared. While there exists an attrition in these markets of certain revenue streams, especially those that come from the sale of compact disks and other hard media, there are numerous doors opening for the manner in which digital content can be sold and marketed."
"With our planned network of kiosks and vending machines available everywhere people frequent, no longer will customers have to be put on waiting lists to watch the Academy Award winning movies, and no late fees. DVDs & CDs are going the way of beta and VHS tapes," added CEO Prescott. "In addition, each location will be capable of housing 3,000 to 5,000 movies in a kiosk-sized space, our products will be available to consumers 24/7, and our business model is as green as they come -- as with our products being digital, we are helping to minimize the enormous impact these industries have imposed on the environment in the past through the production and dissemination of compact disks, plastic trays and the like, which inevitably end up in our landfills."
