Ixia Announces First Terabit-Scale IP Network Testing Solution; Ixia Offers the Highest Density 10 Gigabit Ethernet Test Platform in the Industry

Posted on: Wednesday, 16 February 2005, 09:00 CST

Ixia (Nasdaq:XXIA), a leading, global provider of IP network testing solutions, announced today the industry's highest density 10 Gigabit Ethernet test platform. The new 6 port, 10 Gigabit Ethernet test module for Ixia's Optixia test platform provides 600 Gigabit/sec full duplex or 1.2 Terabit/sec total bandwidth in a single test platform. This capability was developed to meet demand from network equipment manufacturers, semiconductor manufacturers, and carriers that are accelerating the deployment of 10 Gigabit Ethernet technology and services. Early adoption of the Optixia 10 Gigabit Ethernet solution has already begun in Asia with a shipment this month to a large national carrier that is rolling out a mix of complex triple-play services.

Optixia provides a single test platform for Layer 2 and 3 traffic generation, IP Routing emulation, and application testing. The Optixia 10 Gigabit Ethernet solution offers unparalleled performance and scalability at up to 60 ports of 10 Gigabit Ethernet in a single test platform. With the new module, the Optixia is ideally suited for validating and accurately testing next-generation Metro Ethernet and triple play services. Because of its unique CPU per port design, Optixia is capable of generating and tracking hundreds of millions of unique packet flows while simultaneously emulating IP routing protocols. Optixia also supports Ixia's entire portfolio of Layer 4 through 7 testing applications, including IxChariot and IxLoad.

Since 2003, the Optixia platform has been deployed in some of the world's largest network equipment manufacturers, semiconductor manufacturers, and carriers. The Optixia solution already provides the test industry's highest Gigabit Ethernet density with up to 240 ports per chassis. With its unique ability to scale to exceptional port counts, the Optixia delivers unparalleled throughput and full-featured performance testing for IPv4/IPv6, IP Routing, MPLS, and Quality of Service metrics.
