CINCINNATI, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation's Broadcast Communications Division has announced that its integrated video content management and distribution system has been selected by Anteon International to be included in the U.S. Army's Combat Training Center Objective Instrumentation Systems Program. The project, led by Lockheed Martin Simulation, Training & Support, will be deployed at the U.S. Army's National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California.
Harris will provide a system that can digitally transport, ingest, store, add metadata, analyze and archive large quantities of video produced during training exercises. The video will come from more than 60 different sources, including night-vision cameras, handheld camcorders and fixed camera locations. The resulting training excerpts will be transported to multiple locations and devices, ranging from large, fixed-location theaters and mobile battleground theaters to portable devices such as laptop computers in the field.
Harris' Invenio(TM) enterprise-wide collaborative content management suite will provide metadata tagging, search and retrieval, and the ability to add custom vocabulary to make the system friendly to end users. In addition, the project will use Harris NetVX(TM) high-speed connectivity for video networks and Harris DataPlus(TM) WAN-based media management for real-time collection, scheduling and transfer of digital assets.
Harris will serve as a subcontractor to Anteon, a leading information technology and engineering solutions company, which will oversee and develop the After Action Review and Video Monitoring, Recording and Editing Technology Capability Groups in support of the National Training Center requirement.
We are very pleased to be working again with a long-time Harris customer, the U.S. Army," said Jim Denny, vice president and general manager of Harris Broadcast Communications Division's Networking and Government Solutions business unit. "We look forward to delivering our 100 percent consumer off- the-shelf solution and lending our broadcast expertise in managing and transporting the right video content to the right people at the right time on the right devices."
