Posted on: Tuesday, 11 March 2008, 12:00 CDT

Virtual network operator Tokiva has launched IM-To-Call service on its open mobile communications platform.

According to company IM-To-Call service is available immediately on leading instant messaging systems, including MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AOL Messenger, and GTalk.

The company claims that without downloading any software, its registered users will receive an invitation to add Tokiva to their IM buddy lists, and simply IM Tokiva to call. Tokiva calls back to the user's land line or mobile phone and connects the user to the desired number. Using Tokiva users can save up to 90% of normal call costs, because the calls are carried by Tokiva's global VoIP network that has a footprint in over 185 countries.

Tong Li, founder and CEO of Tokiva, said: "Tokiva users tend to be on IM systems all the time. Tokiva IM-To-Call service is a natural extension to what the IM users are already doing -- communicating in real time with their friends worldwide. Tokiva is connecting text based IM systems with voice based phone networks in a simple yet powerful way."
