Pirate Chief Sails in for Expo
A VIRTUAL pirate town will be among the student projects going on display at the University of Teesside.
The annual ExpoTees exhibition will be held on Tuesday, showcasing the final year projects of all students from the School of Computing.
Paul Haynes, 24, has created a new level for existing computer game Unreal Tournament 3.
“I chose the pirate town theme as it’s different from the science fiction route that players of this computer game would normally explore,” said Paul, from Warwickshire.
“I’ve devised a map which consists of a small pirate town, made up of many models ranging from buildings, stone ruins, palm trees and a shipwreck down on the beach. There’s a big difference between playing a computer game and creating your own material, making your own environment.
“When I graduate I’d like to work in the computer games industry, either in the UK or internationally.”
Over 60 projects will be featured at ExpoTees, which is free and open to the public, from 1pm to 6pm, at the Athena Building on Southfield Rd.
