Sophos Upgrades Security and Control Software

Sophos has upgraded its cross-platform security and control system for desktops, laptops, file servers, and mobile devices, with integrated anti-virus, anti-spyware, host intrusion prevention, application control, firewall, and NAC to block viruses and spyware.
It said Sophos Endpoint Security and Control 8.0 also ensures that computers are running on authorized and updated software that adheres to company policy.
Sopphos said assessment, control, and protection of Windows, Mac, and Linux computers can be managed from one console. A security dashboard provides instant visibility of the protection status on all computers so IT teams can detect malware, adware, suspicious files and behavior, and unauthorised software.
According to Sophos, two out of every three corporate computers fail to meet standards because of outdated anti-virus, missing security patches, and a disabled firewall.
John Shaw, director of Endpoint Security and Control at Sophos, said: "Historically it's been difficult for IT managers to know whether their users' computers are safe, protected, and compliant with corporate policies. NAC has been touted as the answer to this problem, but the technology has often been beyond the reach of most companies in terms of budget and resources."
