BILLERICA, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 2003--Mykrolis Corporation (NYSE: MYK), a leading supplier of components and subsystems to the semiconductor industry, today announced that its patented IntelliFlow(R) II Digital Mass Flow Controller (MFC) has received R&D Magazine's prestigious 2003 R&D 100 Award. Established in 1963, the R&D 100 Award highlights the most technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace each year. In being named to the R&D 100, Mykrolis's IntelliFlow II Digital MFC joins the most promising new technologies from several industries and market sectors, including electronics, life sciences, analytical instruments, telecommunications and software.
According to Tim Studt, editor-in-chief of R&D Magazine, "Each year, our judges scour hundreds of entries, searching for the most innovative products. IntelliFlow II exemplified the characteristics that we feel distinguish this select group of technologies - a vast improvement to similar products on the market and the ability to significantly impact the industry in which the product serves."
IntelliFlow II is an advanced digital MFC primarily used to manage gases involved in semiconductor manufacturing processes. Unlike ordinary MFCs, IntelliFlow II is programmable to virtually any gas and range within select boundaries. As a result of this unmatched versatility, customers can rely on IntelliFlow II for all of their gas-based applications; they no longer have to maintain inventory of multiple MFC types, as was traditionally required.
"It's an honor to have R&D Magazine recognize the unique benefits of Mykrolis's IntelliFlow II Digital Mass Flow Controller and include the device in such an elite list of new technologies," said Jean-Marc Pandraud, president and chief operating officer of Mykrolis. "IntelliFlow II marks the combined efforts of our R&D and worldwide customer support teams, which continually work together to identify our customers' requirements and to ensure that these needs are addressed in our next-generation products for semiconductor applications."
