Statement By Maryland Computer Services Association Co-Founders Tom Loveland and John Eckenrode on the Repeal of the Computer Services Sales Tax

Today, the House of Delegates joined the Senate in voting to repeal the computer services sales tax. The Maryland Computer Services Association — which was founded to repeal the tax — issued the following statement from its founders Tom Loveland, CEO of Mind Over Machines, Inc., and John Eckenrode, President of CPSI:

John Eckenrode:

“If the way that the computer services tax was passed shook our faith in the democratic process, the last three months have restored it. Hundreds of men and women in our industry came together — working with members of the General Assembly — and proved that regular citizens can have their voices heard.”

Tom Loveland:

“Our Governor and legislators showed that they are focused on Maryland’s future, and we’re grateful for their leadership. Now that this is behind us, we will continue as active corporate citizens, helping where we can to help our state realize the efficiencies and rewards of technology and innovation.”
