Business and mobile software and services company Adobe Systems has merged its Mobile and Devices Business Unit with its Experience and Technology group as it moves toward an integrated technology platform for PC, mobile handsets, and consumer devices.

Gary Kovacs, vice president of product management and marketing at Adobe’s MDBU, has been promoted to vice president and general manager of the business unit. He will report to Kevin Lynch, chief technology officer and takes over from Al Ramadan who recently left the company.

The company also appointed Rob Tarkoff as senior vice president of corporate development as senior vice president of Adobe’s Business Productivity Business unit, while Paul Weiskopf, vice president of strategy, mergers & acquisitions and investments, will take over Tarkoff’s role as senior vice president of corporate development.

Adobe president and chief executive Shantanu Narayen said: “Key to delivering a well-integrated technology platform is engineering our desktop and device technologies more closely together. Bringing our mobile and platform businesses together under the leadership of CTO Kevin Lynch better positions us to meet the needs of our increasingly diverse customer base.”
