Telco Systems Completes Certification for All Carrier Ethernet Access and Demarcation Products
Posted on: Wednesday, 9 April 2008, 09:00 CDT
Telco Systems, a leading provider of Carrier Ethernet access solutions, has announced that its T5Compact family of routing switches and T-Metro multi-service platforms are now certified to MEF 9 and MEF 14. These most recent certifications mean that the Company's entire access and demarcation product line is fully MEF compliant. Further, the company has indicated that products supporting CES are compatible with MEF 18 and will be certified to this standard in the near future. The complete product line is upgrade-ready for future compliance with UNI Type 2 and E-NNI certification.
The MEF-approved test plan, performed by Iometrix, defines requirements for delivery of services across an Ethernet Private Line (EPL), Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and E-LAN (Ethernet-Local Area Network) networks. As service-oriented test specifications, MEF 9 and MEF 14 are defined from the subscriber's point of view at the UNI (User Network Interface) where the subscriber and service provider areas of responsibility meet. MEF 9 encompasses service attributes such as CE-VLAN ID preservation, multiplexing and bundling. MEF 14 tests for EVC related performance including frame delay, frame delay variation, and frame loss ratio, as well as bandwidth profile service attributes including per Ingress UNI, per EVC, and per Class of Service.
In making the announcement, Avi Cohen, vice president of marketing and business development for Telco Systems, stated, "The successful completion of MEF 9 and 14 certification tests marks a significant milestone in assuring our customers the piece of mind that they are seeking when deploying Carrier Ethernet services. It will also help them to radically reduce testing costs and time-to-market, a critical requirement in today's fast-moving telecommunications market."
In addition to MEF 9 and 14, the Company's products are also certified to MEF 3 and 8.
