KidZui Appoints Experienced Digital Media Executive As New President and Chief Marketing Officer

Posted on: Wednesday, 9 April 2008, 12:00 CDT

KidZui (www.kidzui.com, pronounced kid-zoo-ee), The Internet for Kids, has appointed digital media veteran and seasoned executive Andy Jedynak as its president and chief marketing officer. With more than a dozen years of experience managing and growing digital initiatives, Jedynak will be responsible for driving business growth and building the KidZui brand. He will report directly to Cliff Boro, KidZui's chairman and chief executive officer.

"Having Andy's digital media talent on our executive team is essential to establishing KidZui as a truly revolutionary Internet brand," said Boro. "His leadership will help build our business and deliver on our promise of giving families the most fun, safe and expansive Internet experience for kids."

Launched three weeks ago (after more than two years of development), KidZui is a highly graphical, kid-friendly browser and online service that gives children an Internet all their own, letting them explore more than 600,000 child-appropriate Web sites, pictures and videos reviewed and approved by KidZui's paid team of parent and teacher editors. In addition to giving kids the tools to independently explore the Web, KidZui gives parents peace of mind and insight into their kids' digital lives. Every week, KidZui provides parents with an email summary of their kids' recent searches and interests. This helps parents engage kids in conversations or plan family activities around things they are interested in.

"The people who have built KidZui are exceptional, and I'm proud to be part of this team. What they have passionately created over the past two years will change millions of lives and redefine how families with children view the Internet," said Jedynak. "I wanted the opportunity to do something that makes a real difference in people's lives, and KidZui has done that by building the first-ever comprehensive Internet experience for kids."

Prior to joining KidZui, Jedynak was chief marketing officer of WeatherBug (AWS Convergence Technologies, Inc.). During his nine years at the company, he led the growth of WeatherBug from a concept to one of the top digital properties worldwide. In terms of consumer loyalty, WeatherBug has consistently ranked among the top overall in the United States since 1994.

Jedynak's expertise bridges traditional and digital media. He spent nine years at NBC working within a number of disciplines, including sales, marketing and television production. In the mid 1990s, as manager of new media at NBC San Diego, he proposed, developed and directed what was considered NBC's most profitable local Internet business, and launched MSNBC.com's San Diego news initiative.

A recognized authority in the digital media industry, Jedynak is co-chairman of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Mobile committee. He has spoken regularly about the evolution of Internet at industry events, such as Internet World, IAB, ANA, OPA, Digital Hollywood, OMMA, iMedia and others.

Jedynak graduated from the University of California with emphasis in communication and computer science. Before beginning his career in broadcast and digital media, Jedynak played professional basketball in Europe.
