MySpace Videos Find a New Platform
ShineReveille International of Britain says it has signed a deal with News Corp. that allows MySpace videos to morph into television shows.
We’re very excited to see how the shows on online platforms can transfer to television, Alex Mahon, president of the Shine Group told The New York Times.
Typically, MySpace videos are low-budget shorts and it remains to be seen how the content can be turned into sustainable television entertainment.
We haven’t yet seen a show start on the Web and succeed enough to go to television and require this kind of international deal-making, James McQuivey, an analyst for Forrester Research told the newspaper.
But Mahon is confident in the deal’s future. There are plenty of sitcoms that have emerged out of one sketch on a show, she said.
