Phoenix Business Owners to Open Third Dippin' Dots(R) Store

PHOENIX, April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- What began as an innovative endeavor in late 2005 has become a blooming business for local Dippin' Dots franchisees Dean and Nickolette Tavlarides.

The Tavlarides' are celebrating the opening of their third Dippin' Dots store April 17 - April 19. The new store is located in The Shops at Norterra on Happy Valley Road across from Harkins Theatre. Gambo and Ash will perform from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. Friday, followed by a Tailgate Party catered by Dickey's BBQ. The evening will end with Mascot Games featuring appearances by Packy, the Dippin' Dots mascot as well as mascots from the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, Arizona Cardinals and Phoenix Roadrunners.

Grand Opening activities continue Saturday, kicking off with Radio Disney's "Rock, Skate & Roll" at 1:00. The day will continue with games, prizes and promotions.

The Norterra location offers more than two-dozen flavors of Dippin' Dots Ice Cream, Ice, Sherbet and Yogurt products. In addition, the store serves Dot Cakes, Dot Shakes, Floats, Sundaes and Solar Freeze(R) grenade parfaits. The location also provides Dippin' Dots for parties, fundraising and other events.

The Tavlarides plan to open three more stores in the Phoenix area. "Right now we're looking at expanding to Tucson, Waveyard and Surprise," said Nickolette.

Dippin' Dots(R) are tiny, cryogenically frozen beads of ice cream, yogurt, sherbet and flavored ice. Invented in 1988 by microbiologist and entrepreneur Curt Jones, Dippin' Dots(R) offers more than two-dozen different flavors, plus seasonal flavors.
