OFS Introduces Universal Modular Adapter System and Continues Investment in Connectivity Business; Offers Ease of Cleaning 'Outside the Box'

OFS, designer, manufacturer, and supplier of leading edge fiber optic products, today announced the Universal Modular Adapter System and continued investment in its total Connectivity business.
The Universal Modular Adapter System is a two-piece, split adapter system that facilitates standardized equipment design and network configuration. This design system 1) offers a quick clean feature allowing the craft to clean connections in the field avoiding the time and expense associated with returning products to the vendor for repair and 2) eliminates the additional jumper protrusion from the panel caused when using typical build-on attenuators.
"The unique split design of the UMA system allows for easy access to the rear fiber connector for cleaning, which as become an issue for our customers as fiber connectors on equipment plug-ins become smaller, packed closer together, and are used in harsher environments," said Clay Feustel, Manager in the Optical Connectivity Division for OFS.
"We have heard the needs from our Telco and FTTx customers and are responding with expanded capacity and focused products like our ruggidized Unibody(TM) LC connector for Central Offices and FTTx applications and our UMA system," said Mike Pearsall, Vice President of the Optical Connectivity Division of OFS.
OFS continues to invest in its growing Connectivity business through increased R&D staff focusing on the emerging FTTx area, as well as expanded production capacity at its Carrollton, Georgia operation to support demand for multifiber products like MPOs and pre-terminated offers to support FTTx and data centers.
