FOSTER CITY, Calif., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Furthering its leadership as the premier provider of solutions that secure, manage, and extend instant messaging (IM) and peer-to-peer (P2P) applications, FaceTime today announced the immediate availability of FaceTime Enterprise Edition for Microsoft Office Live Communications Server and support for Microsoft Corp.'s Public IM Connectivity (PIC) with Live Communications Server 2005.
Because of the unique and powerful nature of real-time collaboration and communication networks a new generation of security and compliance infrastructure solutions are required to deploy and safely manage these applications. With new interoperation and federation capabilities between the public IM networks comes added security and compliance requirements. FaceTime Enterprise Edition for Microsoft Office Live Communications Server enhances the already robust security architecture of Live Communications Server 2005 in the face of threats caused by the hundreds of viruses and worms currently circulating via IM, as well as the increasing amount of SPIM (spam over IM) that is anticipated over the coming year. (According to a recent Pew Internet & American Life survey, 30 percent of IM users had received SPIM).
Additionally, customers using FaceTime Enterprise Edition for Live Communications Server are assured that they are using a solution that is compliant with all state and federal government, books and record and customer data security and privacy regulations. FaceTime provides the following IM security and compliance solutions for unique production scale features:
1. Message anti-tampering check sums
2. Advance compliance policies such as:
a. Real-time ethical boundaries ("Chinese Walls")
b. Real-time content filtering with advanced pattern matching,
blocking and scanning
3. Full binary message capture to stop encrypted messages
4. Guaranteed strict logging with order preservation and message
capture
5. Guaranteed delivery to the message database and archive system
6. Guaranteed non-circumvention
7. Blocking of unauthorized IM
FaceTime Enterprise Edition for Microsoft Office Live Communications Server allows businesses to enforce standardization by shutting down unauthorized IM and P2P networks, block file transfers or impose file size limits, scan files for viruses and worms, intercept SPIM through FaceTime's rich content filtering and patent-pending challenge-response mechanism and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
"Microsoft is pleased to be working with FaceTime Communications to deliver the best collaboration experience to customers," said Taylor Collyer, senior director of product management, Real-Time Collaboration Business Unit at Microsoft. "Our solution will help information workers everywhere connect with colleagues, partners and customers in real time, leading to better decisions and better business results."
