Nvidia Releases New Graphics and Media Chips

Nvidia has introduced graphics processing units (GPUs) and media and communications processors (MCPs) it said will enable consumers to optimize PC performance for photo applications, mapping software, games, and HD movies.
Nvidia said the GeForce 9800 GX2 GPU has more than 256 processing cores on a single board and is up to 60% faster than its closest competitor. It said the GeForce 9800 GTX GPU has 128 processor cores.
GeForce 9800 GX2, GeForce 9800 GTX, and GeForce 9600 GT GPUs are available now priced at $599, $299-349, and $199, respectively. The nForce 790i Ultra SLI MCP is priced at $300.
