EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO)(TSX: EXF) announced today the addition of Fibre Channel support on the recently introduced IQS-8120NGE and IQS-8130NGE Power Blazer multi-service test modules, simplifying the testing of multi-service products by network equipment vendors. In addition to offering SONET/SDH/OTN, next-gen SONET/SDH and Ethernet testing capabilities up to 10/10.7 Gbit/s, the IQS-8120NGE and IQS-8130NGE modules now offer optional support for 1x, 2x, 4x and 10x Fibre Channel rates, solidifying its position as the industry's most comprehensive single-module test solution. This extended offering addresses the stringent testing requirements for multi-service products by system verification, R&D and manufacturing groups, allowing them to easily perform automation along with test and troubleshooting routines on network equipment that supports different protocols on the same interface.
The versatility of the Power Blazer modules to support either single- or multi-application testing capabilities on a single module, combined with EXFO's unified architecture which can concurrently support physical layer testing modules along with transport and datacom testing modules, translates into a compelling return on investment by reducing capital expenses. In line with EXFO's philosophy of user-friendly and future-proof test solutions, Fibre Channel support is provided as a software option on the IQS-8120NGE and IQS-8130NGE modules, allowing network equipment manufacturers to easily add the functionality in line with their testing timeline. Network equipment manufacturers gain the flexibility to customize their test solution to their exact requirements, using the least amount of hardware but without compromising on functionality.
"Multi-service products introduce additional testing challenges for system verification, R&D and manufacturing teams," said Etienne Gagnon, EXFO's Vice-President of Product Management and Marketing. "These challenges go beyond technology and include logistical and operational concerns. EXFO addresses these challenges with the industry's most advanced multi-service test modules, which now support comprehensive Fibre Channel testing. The IQS-8120NGE and IQS-8130NGE modules provide network equipment vendors with a complete multi-service testing solution - from automation to troubleshooting - that easily and cost-effectively evolves through software options to support additional functionality when needed".
