SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 2003--
Addition of SSL VPN, Caching, New Switching Capabilities Extends Reach
of NetScaler's Award-Winning Secure Application Networking Systems
NetScaler, Inc., the application intelligent networking company, today announced significant new capabilities for its NetScaler 9000 Series that extend the company's leadership in delivering the most advanced and highly integrated secure application networking systems. A key addition to the newly enhanced products now provides NetScaler customers with secure, ubiquitous remote access via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to business-critical applications from any location.
Delivered as the second phase of NetScaler's Model for Application Intelligent Networking (MAIN), the new capabilities will be available next month to all new and existing NetScaler customers. Enterprises, e-commerce operations and Internet-based businesses gain a previously unattainable level of application-centric functionality using integrated NetScaler 9000 Series security, optimization and switching capabilities, including new features such as:
-- Secure, remote access for web-based and client/server
applications, terminal access and files through integrated SSL
Virtual Private Network (VPN) functionality for encryption and
authentication, authorization and auditing (AAA)
-- Integrated, in-memory caching to optimize the delivery of both
static and dynamic content to greatly improve end users'
application performance while reducing cost
-- Enhancements to the 9000 Series' industry-leading application
switching functionality, including link load balancing and
dynamic route learning capabilities
-- New manageability features that provide more control and
simplified administration of the systems, including an
XML-based application programming interfaces (APIs) for device
configuration and an enhanced management dashboard for
graphically monitoring real-time statistics
"Secure remote access is only the starting point as enterprises work to deliver business-critical applications over the Internet to their employees, customers, and partners," said Dave Kosiur, senior analyst for Burton Group. "When purchasing infrastructure to support this, buyers need to look at broader networking capabilities to ensure that their applications are delivered with adequate end-user performance and still maintain a high level of protection. NetScaler is on the mark with its tight integration of SSL VPNs and proven application networking abilities."
"NetScaler significantly improves overall user response times, achieves higher throughput and ensures maximum availability for the delivery of our applications," states Eric Walters, 7-Eleven's manager of network services. "The fact that NetScaler is building additional functionality such as SSL VPN into its single, unified hardware platform only adds to the business benefits enterprises such as ours can expect to receive. From a strategic standpoint, the NetScaler products support our long term goals of consolidation and cost reduction."
The NetScaler 9000 Series incorporates robust SSL VPN capabilities for secure remote access within a unified application networking platform that delivers peak end-user performance and fortifies networks against attacks. Optimization features, such as TCP offloading/buffering, compression and in-memory caching, unburden web and application servers from connection processing and content delivery overhead, improving end users' response times and complementing the many benefits of SSL VPNs. Attack protection is also a key addition to browser-based remote access, insulating data centers from the viruses and denial of service attacks that can be introduced from users accessing data through potentially untrusted remote systems. Finally, application-layer switching ensures that web servers operate at peak performance and deliver applications to remote users with uninterrupted availability.
"We are extending our technology leadership over traditional Layer 4-7 networking vendors by integrating the widest range of security, optimization and switching features onto a single application-centric platform," says Mark Weiner, senior director of strategic marketing, NetScaler. "In the remote access market, our 9000 Series delivers a combination of security and performance that's simply not possible with first-generation SSL VPN appliances. As our customers continue extending access to business-critical applications for an ever-growing user population, the benefits of our unified approach to secure application networking are becoming more apparent every day."
Pricing and Availability
Prices for NetScaler 9000 Series Secure Application Networking Systems begin at $25,000. All systems include a 5-user license for secure remote access at no additional charge, with additional licenses available based on NetScaler's standard price list. Application caching capability is also available as a 9000 Series option, with pricing starting at $7,500. The system enhancements described in this release will be available in August 2003.
