ScriptLogic Corporation Covers the ABC's of SQL With Comprehensive SQL Server Security and Backup Management

Infosecurity Europe 2008 (Booth G195) -- ScriptLogic(R) Corporation (www.scriptlogic.com), a worldwide provider of systems lifecycle management solutions for Microsoft(R) Windows(R)-based networks, today announced its expansion into the world of Microsoft SQL Server management with three products that combine to Analyze, Backup and Control access on SQL Servers, functions vital for business continuity and enterprise security. ScriptLogic's expanded coverage, described as the "ABC's of SQL," includes two existing ScriptLogic products, LiteSpeed(TM) for SQL Server and Security Explorer(R) for SQL Server, and one new product currently in beta and due for general release in the near future, Enterprise Security Reporter(R) for SQL Server.
Microsoft SQL Server is a popular database server, especially in the small and medium business market, that is often used to store sensitive data including customer lists, employee information and even credit card records and other transaction data. An often over-looked area of security, locking down SQL Servers is critical; companies face significant damages should the data be compromised, including loss of consumer trust, bad publicity and the threat of non-compliance with government and industry regulations. In addition, the cost of losing data that cannot be recovered rapidly can be just as high.
"Virtually every business has one or more Microsoft SQL Servers deployed on their networks, and often these store a company's most sensitive and critical information," said Jon Rolls, senior director of product management at ScriptLogic. "Yet we find that IT and database administrators at these companies rarely take a proactive stance to ensure those servers are secure and easily recoverable. We have expanded our product offerings to provide a comprehensive SQL Server management solution that gives our customers the power to assess, audit and manage security settings, and to backup and recover data in a fast, secure manner."
ScriptLogic is demonstrating the ABC's of SQL at Infosecurity Europe, which is being held April 22-24 in London at the Grand Hall, Olympia. ScriptLogic is in booth G195 at the show.
The three products included in ScriptLogic's SQL Server management portfolio provide three essential functions for a secure, reliable, recoverable IT infrastructure:
-- Analyze. The newest addition, Enterprise Security Reporter for SQL Server (currently in beta, but due for release in the near future), automates the documentation of SQL Server security for compliance and security reviews. IT administrators use the product to discover, analyze and report on database object and schema security, server logins, database users and user group membership with numerous pre-designed, customizable reports.
-- Backup. IT administrators can use LiteSpeed for SQL Server to backup and restore SQL databases. LiteSpeed features advanced compression technologies that can compress database sizes up to 95 percent of their original size, and restoring a database is streamlined through an easy-to-use interface. LiteSpeed offers nine different levels of encryption to ensure data protection during backup.
-- Control Access. ScriptLogic's Security Explorer for SQL Server dramatically simplifies server security, with a full tree view of database permissions and point-and-click permissions management, duplication, backup and recovery.
Pricing and Availability
Enterprise Security Reporter for SQL Server is currently in beta but will be generally available by the end of April. The three products are available in a single download, and a free 30-day evaluation of all this and all software solutions from ScriptLogic is available at
