New Notebook Computer From Dell Provides Essential Features at Value Prices

Posted on: Tuesday, 15 March 2005, 12:00 CST

Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) today introduced the value-priced Inspiron(TM) 2200 notebook computer for customers who primarily want to access the Internet, write e-mails or work with personal-productivity software applications.

Priced at $849, the Inspiron 2200 is light on the wallet and can be configured with an Intel(R) Celeron(R) M or Pentium(TM) M processor. This notebook features the new Intel 910GML chipset with the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 to provide a range of power and graphics performance for practical computing functions. For budget-conscious consumers, an integrated graphics solution -- which uses the computer's processor and shares its memory -- provides ample power to perform basic tasks at a good value.

Users can also configure their system with a choice of storage drives up to 60GB, displays and optical drives to provide enhanced multimedia performance. For example, users who select the 8X DVD+/-RW(a) optical drive can burn a full DVD+R or DVD-R disc in approximately 12 minutes(b).

Starting at about six pounds(c), the Inspiron 2200 can be taken to the classroom, office or living room while still being connected to the Internet through an optional integrated wireless networking card that can be ordered at purchase. And, as hotspots in public places continue to grow, users can take their systems on the go, yet stay connected and enjoy the freedom of the Internet, productivity or entertainment software at the airport or their favorite coffee shop or park(d).
