Optical Solutions' John Griffin Appointed to Fiber-to-the-Home -FTTH- Council Board of Directors

Posted on: Wednesday, 16 March 2005, 12:00 CST

Optical Solutions Inc., the market leader in next-generation GPON networks, today announced that Executive Vice President of Marketing John Griffin has been elected to the FTTH Council 2005 Board of Directors. Griffin will serve a two-year term as the Council's secretary, joining six other executives in carrying out the non-profit's mission to educate, promote and accelerate FTTH and its quality-of-life benefits.

A founding member of the FTTH Council in 2001, Optical Solutions shares the FTTH Council's singular focus on fiber-to-the-home. "Long before FTTH became top-of-mind in the industry, Optical Solutions was developing and deploying FTTH equipment solutions and working to make FTTH a legitimate broadband offering," said Griffin. "It is very rewarding to see the industry finally embracing FTTH, and it's especially exciting to be part of this transformative time in telecommunications history, as antiquated copper connections give way to the unlimited possibilities of fiber optic networks."

Optical Solutions is the leading system supplier of FTTH systems in North America. OSI's standards-based FiberPath 500 system - the first residential Gigabit PON (GPON) equipment and networking solution in the industry - has sparked a dramatic increase in the number of service providers deploying FTTH. More than 130 communities, spanning 30 states and two Canadian provinces, feature FiberPath equipment in their FTTH network. The FiberPath 500 system is capable of delivering multiple communications and entertainment services to the home or business, including advanced Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) and high-speed data services, as well as legacy telecommunications services.

Optical Solutions is one of more than 100 member companies lending its support to the non-profit FTTH Council. The Council's members include representatives from all areas of broadband industries, including telecommunications, computing, networking, system integration, engineering, and content-provider companies, as well as traditional telecommunications service providers, utilities and municipalities.
