FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T has won a three-year contract to provide a secure networking solution for Image Management Systems and Support Corp. (IMSS), a company specializing in medical imaging systems integration.
The agreement expands an existing relationship with AT&T for voice and data services. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
IMSS provides subscribing healthcare institutions -- including hospitals, laboratories and physicians -- a secure online environment in which to store and share digital medical images and reports. Storing documents with IMSS enhances and expands medical experts' abilities to consult on diagnoses or recommended treatments, regardless of location or time of day.
AT&T will deploy an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) and host the IMSS Web servers in its Arizona Internet Data Center (IDC), ensuring around-the-clock access to data stored there and providing business continuity capabilities. AT&T owns and operates 26 IDCs around the world.
IMSS has been serving health care institutions primarily in the southeast U.S. since 1999. The company is finalizing plans for facilities in Shanghai, China.
"The ability to view, consult and respond to x-rays, CRs (computed radiography), CTs (computed tomography), MRIs, ultrasound and medical transcription is a tremendous boon to healthcare professionals," said Joseph Porges one of the founders of IMSS.
"The ability to do it any time of the day or night, from virtually anywhere in the world, can be the difference between life or death. AT&T won our business because of the reliability of AT&T's network and data centers, as well as the sales and customer support."
The AT&T solution enables IMSS to migrate to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services for intra-company communications. An IP-based converged networking environment also opens the door to a variety of advanced features, including integrated messaging capabilities, voice e-mail, bandwidth on demand and web-based portals.
