German Security Group Defines Blueprint for Next Generation Network Access
Culled from 21 years of network access control implementation experience, NCP engineering GmbH today announced a blueprint for Next Generation Network Access Technology. The roadmap details the 12 essential components organizations need to secure their networks, foster productivity across a distributed network and streamline central management policy, while meeting compliance mandates.
Next Generation Network Access Technology core modules include Network Access Control (NAC), Identity and Access Management (IAM), endpoint security (IPSec, SSL or hybrid VPN gateway), VPN management and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
“NCP’s Secure Communications technology is a prime example of the next generation network access solution enterprises need. It addresses businesses’ pain points and reduces the burdens of large, complex environments, bringing the benefits of secure network access without the management headaches,” said Fran Howarth, Quocirca analyst. “The enterprise security industry is evolving as a new generation of IPSec VPNs becomes available. Organizations are now requiring a centrally managed, high security network access solution with powerful personal firewalls to provide complete system and device coverage.”
Blueprint for Next Generation Network Access Technology
Essential components enterprises need to achieve highly secure network access include (The full blueprint can be accessed at http://www.ncp-e.com/en/vpn-szenarien-produkte/argumente/anforderungen-access-technologie.html.)
— Central Management — Secure communications technology must be easy-to- use and simple to operate. With a single point of administration, only one user interface and one console are needed to manage mass-rollouts. — Network Access Control — Endpoint policy enforcement enables enterprises to specify access parameters to the network system, forcing users without valid device configurations into a quarantine zone. — IPSec and SSL Hybrid Support — Regardless of which VPN gateway is applied, a central remote station, such as the NCP Secure Enterprise Server, is able to control both worlds. The simultaneous support of IPSec and SSL protocols guarantees secure company communications in every environment. — Open Standard Interface — The network access control solution supports all relevant operating systems and VPN gateways, and an open standard interface reduces organizations’ administrative burdens as well as overhead costs. — Personal Firewall — An integrated, dynamic personal firewall with friendly net detection automatically recognizes safe and unsafe networks and regulates activity on these networks.
