SAN DIEGO, March 21 /PRNewswire/ -- M7 Networks Inc. (http://www.m7networks.com/), a leading trusted partner and enabler of advanced wireless services, announced today that it has partnered with QUALCOMM Incorporated , a leading provider of wireless data solutions, to deliver Application "Wake-Up" functionality for QUALCOMM's BREW-based OmniOne wireless communications application. The OmniOne mobile communications solution is a handset-based fleet management system that provides transportation carriers with an efficient way to run their business, helping to increase productivity and reduce the number of missed loads.
M7 Networks' Application "Wake-Up" signals OmniOne-subscribed devices to retrieve any outstanding messages from QUALCOMM's Network Operations Center, requiring no interaction between user and device. This creates an event- driven user experience where the user is alerted only after all pertinent data has been transmitted to the handset.
"We are pleased to partner with QUALCOMM to bring "Wake-Up" functionality to this leading fleet management application," said William Erickson, CEO and president of M7 Networks. "This partnership underscores our commitment to working with the best-in-class content partners to enhance mobile application value to the customer through push-enabled functionality."
"It's critical to provide customers with a solution that is easy and convenient to use," said Norm Ellis, general manager and vice president of transportation and logistics, QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions. "By utilizing M7 Networks' technology, we are increasing the effectiveness of the OmniOne mobile communications solution by eliminating the need to continually check the system to determine if business is waiting for you."
The OmniOne solution is a flexible, low-cost transportation application for mobile phones that provides trucking companies, affiliate fleets and subcontractors with a powerful, portable communications tool that enables drivers and dispatchers to receive and send assignments, status updates and other information. The OmniOne solution is easily integrated into a carrier's dispatch and back-office systems.
QUALCOMM's BREW solution is designed to meet the distinct and varied needs of wireless operators, handset manufacturers, publishers, developers and end users around the world. BREW products and services include: an open, extensible client platform that supports robust system and application software including personalized and branded user interfaces for mass market devices; a J2EE(TM)-based, modular distribution system that enables the delivery of content, applications and user interfaces to wireless devices across all air interfaces; a dedicated professional services team that supports the integration of customized implementations; and the wireless industry's first global marketplace to support the monetization of applications and services developed in all programming languages. The BREW ecosystem can make your wireless visions a reality.
