Intransa and Orbital Data Partner to Enable Faster Application Performance and Data Recovery Over Wide Area Networks

Posted on: Wednesday, 23 March 2005, 15:00 CST

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Intransa, the first company to deliver the most flexible storage network for mid-tier organizations and large enterprises, announced that Intransa has joined forces with Orbital Data, to provide LAN-like performance to WAN applications and storage, delivering an integrated solution ideal for enabling IP-based site-to-site disaster recovery without costly network or software upgrades. Through their collaboration, Orbital Data has joined the Intransa Partner Solutions program to continue to jointly test and integrate their technology with Intransa's storage grid architecture as well as develop collaborative support and sales efforts between the companies.

WAN optimization maximizes network throughput and ensures remote and branch sites perform as if they were connected to the corporate LAN. The network operates at its best levels, consistent with the requirements of the business. Orbital Data and Intransa combine to improve the performance of critical business applications stored on Intransa's storage grid architecture, and can be used to accelerate network traffic to optimize disaster recovery over the WAN.

"Our partnership with Intransa is a sensible approach to ensuring the best combination of storage and WAN performance for customers who leverage the scalable Intransa storage grid architecture," said Ed Haslam, vice president of product marketing at Orbital Data. "We help companies optimize the available bandwidth on the WAN so applications perform better and users are more productive, whether they're at a remote site or sitting in a corporate office. By collaborating on IP-based technology, particularly in the growing Asia Pacific region, we have enabled our mutual customers to optimize wide area networks for disaster recovery."

"Through our Partner Solutions program and partners such as Orbital Data, Intransa is demonstrating its ability to enhance the value of a combined offering to customers through expansion into new functionality, and through the improved integration and tighter support offered by the joint-testing and collaboration in the program," said Peter Wang, co-founder and CTO of Intransa. "WAN optimization benefits our customers by delivering the full value of the bandwidth they've invested in to facilitate the movement of critical business data and applications across the WAN. Combining WAN optimization solutions with the Intransa storage grid architecture, customers' applications perform better, and they greatly improve upon the performance, reliability and recoverability of their systems."

The Intransa Ready(TM) program tier invites all partners to conduct joint lab testing for interoperability and collaborate with Intransa to meet customer demand for specific technologies. The Intransa Proven(TM) program tier expands on the previous tier by giving partners the opportunity to develop joint sales and marketing, and cooperative support efforts around the mutually interoperable solution. Finally, the Intransa Certified(TM) program tier provides for a joint go-to-market plan between Intransa and the partner, and includes Intransa-supported OEM partner solutions branded and resold by Intransa. Partners in the Intransa Solutions Program include CommVault, Orbital Data, and Sonasoft.
