Dell CFO Resigns
May 21, 2008
Dell has announced the resignation of its CFO Donald Carty. He will be replaced by Brian Gladden, chief executive of SABIC Innovative Plastics, who will take over the role next month.
Carty was appointed CFO in January 2007, replacing James Schneider who left amid a SEC probe into the company’s past accounting practices. Carty’s resignation follows the completion of the probe.
Dell lags HP in worldwide shipments of PCs and is cutting jobs to meet financial targets. In April, it unveiled a three-year $3bn cost-cutting plan, involving 8,800 job cuts.
The company’s founder Michael Dell took over the CEO’s role after the departure of Kevin Rollins in January 2007.
