SAVVIS, Inc. (NASDAQ: SVVS), a global leader in IT infrastructure services for business applications, today announced the appointment of Dennis Brouwer as Vice President, Network Business Line Management.
Reporting to James Whitemore, Chief Marketing Officer, Brouwer is responsible for providing company-wide strategic marketing leadership and product strategy formulation to drive revenue, margin and market share related to the network business line.
He will play a key role in driving enterprise adoption of SAVVIS' Application Transport Network, a Tier 1 Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network that further virtualizes and optimizes the delivery of enterprise applications. Brouwer will have responsibility for the Network Product Management, Product Marketing and Pricing teams.
Prior to joining SAVVIS, Brouwer served in senior product, partner, and program management positions at TARGUSinfo and Neustar and was the founder of a networking and security consultancy focused on strategic analysis, technology commercialization, and product launch processes and metrics. He was also a co-founder of SmartPipes, a software company that developed and delivered network configuration and endpoint security policy enforcement tools. In addition to his start-up experience, he served as Vice President, Product Marketing, at UUNet and CompuServe Network Services, with responsibility for product strategy and delivery of all Virtual Private Network and Security Services.
"Dennis is a seasoned executive with deep experience in many facets of delivering network technology and services to the enterprise," Whitemore said. "He will play an integral role as we roll out our Application Transport Network, which serves approximately 20 percent of the world's Internet routes and represents a significant opportunity for us to serve our customers better with innovative IT infrastructure solutions. Following a USD 40 million investment in network technology, SAVVIS is ready to create new, more effective strategies to capture enterprise spending on data transport."
Brouwer added, "I'm excited by the opportunity to deliver SAVVIS' state-of-the-art Application Transport Network to the market, especially as part of an integrated IT infrastructure solution for the enterprise. While CIOs are eager to find a single-source solution to their infrastructure challenges, few providers offer the complete suite available from SAVVIS."
Brouwer holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Minnesota and a Masters in Business Administration from Texas A&M University. He served as a Naval Flight Officer and anti-submarine mission commander in the US Navy for eight years.
