Proxilliant Completes Successful Pilot of Cable Access Management System With Kabel Deutschland
Posted on: Wednesday, 28 May 2008, 09:00 CDT
Proxilliant Systems Corp., which offers intelligent solutions essential to achieving the highest levels of reliability and profitability for cable networks, recently completed a highly successful pilot of its Cable Access Management System (CAMS) with Kabel Deutschland (KDG), Germany's largest cable-based TV, Internet and Phone product provider. KDG is now evaluating a major rollout of the CAMS solution throughout its footprint of 15 million homes passed.
This pilot involved some 60,000 homes passed in KDG's system in the city of Trier, and the solution permanently reduced the influence of ingress in the return path and improved the resultant carrier-to-noise ratio to significantly improve cable service reliability and quality.
Proxilliant's Cable Access Management System is an integrated hardware and software solution for proactive, cable-based service health management. It provides comprehensive and continuous health information while actively improving service quality -- necessary as cable operators look to profitably deliver the triple play of services broadly and deeply throughout their networks. CAMS features intelligence deployed deep into the access network that works in concert with sophisticated software in the regional head-end or central data center. The intelligent management of the HFC network and services is uniquely combined with the industry's only managed ingress suppression technology, Proxilliant's patented Dynamic Ingress Blocking(TM) technology. This deep intelligence allows operators to dramatically reduce their field and network troubleshooting time and costs by pinpointing issues to typically 80-home clusters, while also eliminating the propagation of quality-eroding ingress.
"Proxilliant's solution has enabled our network to perform with new highs of robustness. As we continue our aggressive acquisition campaigns around our triple-play of services, the superior reliability and service quality made possible by CAMS are essential," said Wolfgang Teichmann, Vice President HFC Network Engineering. "Beyond the clear benefits of having more reliable upstream capacity to grow into as our penetration deepens, we now have a real-time view into small, neighborhood-clusters of our network that improves our operational efficiency and service economics."
"The delivery of today's advanced cable services requires KDG and cable operators worldwide to take a much more proactive approach to service health management to ensure sustainable profitability as their penetration deepens," said Sonia Khademi, CEO of Proxilliant. "Chronic reliability and availability issues seriously limit cable operators' ability to cost effectively launch services and scale as demand grows. The pilot with KDG plainly shows what a clear line of sight into a neighborhood, combined with active ingress suppression, can do for the bottom line and for progress towards carrier-class network and service performance. We are very pleased with the results with KDG."
Proxilliant is demonstrating its CAMS solution to Europe's cable operators in Booth H18 at the ANGA Cable Show (May 27-29).
About Proxilliant
Proxilliant Systems enables cable companies worldwide to deliver advanced, two-way services with reliability, operational efficiency, and profitability previously unattainable. With intelligence deployed deep in the access network at the neighborhood level, Proxilliant's proven Cable Access Management System proactively reduces upstream noise, enabling a dramatic increase in upstream bandwidth capacity while slashing field and network troubleshooting time and cost. For the first time, cable operators can precisely isolate fault and performance issues and obtain a comprehensive view of health across RF, IP and QoE. Founded in 2005, Proxilliant is headquartered in Maynard, MA, USA, and venture funded by Northzone Ventures and Creandum.
