LibreDigital Announces Migration Program for Microsoft Live Search Books Publishers
Posted on: Wednesday, 28 May 2008, 12:00 CDT
LibreDigital, a division of NewsStand, Inc., today announced a new migration program for publishers affected by the end of the Microsoft (MSFT) Live Search Books Publisher Program. Beginning June 2008, LibreDigital will offer services to assist book and periodical publishers to transfer their scans and text from Microsoft into their own repositories hosted by the LibreDigital Internet Warehouse solution.
After transferring the content to the LibreDigital Internet Warehouse for Publishers (LDW), former users of the Live Search Books Publisher Program will not only secure ownership of their digitized books and journals but they will also be able to leverage the growing variety of Internet-facing promotional functions LDW offers, such as widgets for social networks, search and discovery, Rights and Permissions and BookBuild, the powerful LibreDigital eCompile service.
"Publishers have become accustomed to changes in the world of digital publishing," said Craig A. Miller, Vice President and General Manager at LibreDigital. "This migration program we're launching today was designed to offer a secure and high-performance repository for the content they need to migrate from Microsoft's Live Search Books Program."
"Microsoft's decision to migrate away from their Live Book Search projects is partly a result of the company's decision to focus on their Core Search initiatives. Their move opens up opportunities for Internet Digital Warehouse solutions, like LibreDigital's, that can connect directly to other repositories, like Microsoft's, while offering control and protections for Publishers," said Frank Gilbane, CEO at the Gilbane Group.
LibreDigital solutions are used by some of the world's top publishers, including Bloomsbury, HarperCollins, Harlequin and Hachette. The company's offerings include the LibreDigital Internet Digital Warehouse solution which allows publishers to deliver searchable book content in a variety of digital formats while protecting control of content and copyrights.
