Umniah Graduates 3 Groups of Computer Literate CitizensPositioning its Community Computer Center as a Catalyst for Promoting Computer Literacy and Social Reform

Building on its mission to increase levels of computer literacy in Jordan, Umniah announced that it had graduated 35 individuals from the Community Computer Center based at the company headquarters.

Officially Inaugurated on March, the 16th 2008, the Center was set to offer comprehensive free of charge 2-week training courses on Word, Excel, Windows, Power Point and internet applications. Conducted by a team of highly qualified computer experts from Umniah, the syllabus presented through this initiative is designed to cater to the career development needs of individuals of lower spending capacities.

Deemed an effort set to help citizens advance in their professional lives, the Center had already graduated 3 groups of 13, 12 and 10 students respectively. Amongst these graduates was a group from the King Hussein Cancer Center.

Speaking proudly of the Computer Center’s achievements to date, Umniah’s CEO Mr. Joseph Hanania said, “We are thrilled to see this center achieving the very goals it was set to accomplish. Through the classes we are offering, I believe that we are working to realize our belief in the importance of benefiting fellow community members”

Mr. Hanania further added that this initiative was launched inline with his Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision to enhance levels of computer literacy in Jordan, “We are arming our fellow citizens with the skills they need to resourcefully shine in their careers. I seize this opportunity to continue to invite all individuals interested in benefiting from the center’s services to pay us a visit, as I am confident that this Center will be of great use to many”, he concluded.

Furthering its commitment to launching innovative communication services in Jordan and the region, Umniah has pioneered the local market, as the first telecommunications operator to introduce the WiMAX technology to Jordan. Introducing this service through its brand name UMAX, the Company is presenting an application that offers wireless internet connectivity while increasing levels of internet penetration in Jordan. In light of this launch, Umniah has done its share for introducing this service to members of the community.
