Orcon Deploys Juniper Ethernet and Broadband Services Routers

Posted on: Thursday, 29 May 2008, 09:00 CDT

Juniper Networks, engaged in high-performance networking, has announced that Orcon, a New Zealand-based internet service provider, has deployed its MX960 Ethernet Services Routers and E120 Broadband Services Routers to increase the capacity and performance of its network infrastructure.

Orcon will also deploy the SRC and C-series Controllers, part of Juniper's Session and Resource Control portfolio, to enable policy based control over network resources. Orcon selected the Juniper solution for its comprehensive functionality and operational efficiency.

The MX960 platform is a carrier ethernet platform available with up to 960 gigabits per second (Gbps) of switching and routing capacity, enabling more revenue per platform and providing the scale to protect Orcon's investment. It was designed for the wide range of business and residential applications and services that Orcon is offering or planning to offer - including high-speed transport and VPN services, next-generation broadband multiplay services and high-volume Internet data center internetworking.

At the network edge, Orcon will upgrade its existing E-series routers with the newer, high capacity Juniper Networks E120 Broadband Service Router. The E120 offers very high system capacity in a small form factor, and leverages the E-series' proven operating system to ensure feature and operational consistency. Orcon broadband customers will connect to the E120 across a variety of access technologies including wholesale DSL, ADSL2+, metro Ethernet and wireless connectivity.

Juniper's Session and Resource Control Portfolio delivers a carrier-grade policy and control solution that will allow Orcon to deliver high-value differentiated services to its subscribers - beyond its current offering of Internet access and VoIP - in parallel, across multiple access technologies, and will also enable Orcon to efficiently track and bill for those services.
