Kofax plc (LSE:KFX), the leading provider of Intelligent Capture & Exchange solutions, today announced a new release of the TOPCALL Communication Server which, with this release, is being rebranded as the Kofax Communication Server.
Kofax Communication Server is a consolidated communication platform that can route all electronically-captured inbound and outbound messages across large distributed environments. With the ability to handle virtually any communications format (email, fax, voicemail, SMS and others), the platform enables data to be converted from one format to another, and each message to be optionally archived for compliance purposes. The server can be connected to numerous applications, including those from SAP, Microsoft, Novell, IBM, and other ISV systems, and can be easily configured as a secure, high-volume enterprise fax server.
Kofax Communication Server 8.0 features several new benefits vital for high-end business communication applications in enterprise environments. This includes virtualization support, advanced email functionality, enhanced Fax-over-IP (FoIP) capabilities, and support for new environments such as Lotus Notes 8, SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and Windows Vista.
"Enterprise organizations have increasingly complex distributed environments that require an exchange solution that is efficient, reliable, scalable, highly functional, and supports information security and compliance requirements," said Sameer Samat, Executive Vice President of Products for Kofax. "Kofax Communication Server 8.0 leverages the legacy strengths of the TOPCALL platform with new, expanded capabilities. The result is a single, central communication solution for high-end applications that automates the exchange of information between mission-critical applications."
Among the new features, Kofax Communication Server 8.0 now offers support for server virtualization through VMware. Virtualization allows users to share the resources of a single server across multiple environments and locations. This enables businesses to simplify information technology operations, fully leverage existing computing investments, and respond faster to changing business demands.
Kofax Communication Server 8.0 also offers enhanced support for FoIP, helping organizations realize cost savings and other productivity benefits by leveraging existing IP infrastructure. New capabilities also include SIP and H323 support and enhancements that support the implementation of high availability and disaster recovery systems.
In addition, Kofax Communication Server 8.0 integrates with Kofax Capture and other Kofax products to enable solutions based on the Kofax Intelligent Capture & Exchange concept, the centerpiece of the company's strategy to help organizations streamline business processes.
