Aurora Networks to Demo Solutions for Fighting the Telcos at Cable-Tec Expo(R) '08

Posted on: Tuesday, 3 June 2008, 12:00 CDT

At SCTE's 2008 Cable-Tec Expo, Aurora Networks will demonstrate a portfolio of products designed to help cable operators stay ahead of the competition. Cable-Tec Expo, which takes place June 25-27 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the industry's premier engineering show, highlighting the latest in cable technology. Aurora will showcase its award-winning optical solutions at the show.

Key demonstrations at Aurora's Expo Booth 139 include:

-- LcWDM(R), DWDM, and D2WDM node segmentation solutions, which enable cable operators to quadruple plant bandwidth without the need for fiber construction while simultaneously supporting fast, targeted deployments.

-- VHub(TM) virtual hub technology, which eliminates the need for a hub site, lowers deployment costs, and supports 24 service groups with as few as three fibers.

-- Industry's leading Fiber Deep technology, which provides up to 10 times increase in narrowcast bandwidth per home, reduces operating costs by 65%, lowers power costs by 50%, and provides 99.995% network availability.

-- Pioneering next-generation access solutions, which include:

-- BitCoax(TM) -- new concept to exploit coax above 1 GHz -- Fiber on Demand(TM) -- to serve high-bandwidth users -- FTTP VHub(TM) -- to efficiently service new build areas with fiber-based offerings -- Node PON(TM) -- to enable GEPON from the node; a smooth migration to FTTP

-- Commercial services solutions, which support delivery of 100 Mbps, 1,000 Mbps and T1/E1 applications to generate revenue from small- to medium-sized enterprises.

"Aurora Networks offers a rich array of products, designed specifically for cable operators, to help them win the battle for subscribers," said John Dahlquist, Aurora's vice president of marketing. "Our optical networking solutions enable cable operators to deliver an array of revenue-generating services for bandwidth-hungry commercial and residential customers."
