Slovenia's Tusmobil has made commercial high-speed data call just three weeks after signing a contract with Nokia Siemens Networks to upgrade and expand the mobile operator's 3G services.
The implementation allows Tusmobil to start offering its customers enhanced services like high-speed mobile broadband almost immediately.
Tusmobil has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks to boost its network capabilities in order to offer differentiating high-end mobile internet, data and multimedia services to its customers. The project consists in expanding the network by deploying 400 environmentally-friendly base stations and expanding as well as optimizing the operator's core network with a leading-edge mobile switching solution.
The upgrade will significantly improve network efficiency and coverage, allowing Tusmobil to offer new services, like mobile television. Powered with High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) technology from Nokia Siemens Networks, the end users will be able to enjoy high download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps, depending on mobile phone capabilities.
Marko Fujs, CEO of Tusmobil, said: "We are witnessing one of the fastest 3G rollouts in the history of mobile communications. Our users will very soon enjoy incredible data speed in Tusmobil network."
