The Weather Channel Interactive, Inc. Taps BandCon for Content Delivery Services

Posted on: Friday, 6 June 2008, 12:00 CDT

BandCon announced today that it has been selected by Atlanta-based The Weather Channel Interactive, Inc. (TWCi) to provide content delivery services. TWCi is the leading provider of weather-related products and content via broadband and wireless technologies.

The BandCon Content Delivery Network (CDN) solution will facilitate bandwidth-intensive transfers of online video and weather-related stories from weather.com(R), the official web site of The Weather Channel. The solution will also cache content for the web site on servers distributed across the BandCon network to deliver a high-quality online viewing experience to TWCi's estimated 39 million monthly users.

"TWCi is bracing for another year of explosive growth, and the BandCon CDN solution is a welcome addition to our strategy," said Dan Agronow, Chief Technology Officer of TWCi. "The flexibility and scalability of BandCon services provide us with the ability to deliver a rich online experience to our customers with a reduced operating risk profile."

The flexibility of BandCon's service allows TWCi to alter their service mix to access the most appropriate technologies to meet their specific business requirements. As their needs evolve, TWCi can change their service mix regardless of where they are in the contract, thereby reducing the risks associated with long-term agreements.

"We are excited to be working with TWCi. They are a clear market leader with a diverse content set who can take full advantage of the capabilities BandCon has to offer," said Ari Benowitz, Chief Executive Officer and President of BandCon.
