Appro First to Demonstrate 40Gb/S InfiniBand Supercomputing Clusters

MILPITAS, Calif., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Appro (http://www.appro.com/), a leading provider of high-performance computing systems will showcase a 40Gb/s InfiniBand Xtreme-X1 Supercomputer powered by Quad-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processors utilizing high density computing, new industry-leading Mellanox ConnectX(R) 40Gb/s InfiniBand adapters and InfiniScale(R) IV-based 40Gb/s InfiniBand switch running an ANSYS- Fluent airplane structure application. This demonstration features a powerful and balanced open supercomputer architecture managed by Appro Cluster Engine(TM) software that combines high performance capacity computing with superior fault-tolerant capability. The Appro live supercomputing demonstrations will take place at the International Supercomputing Conference, ISC/08 in Dresden, Germany, June 17-19, 2008, booth D36.

Appro will participate in the Birds of a Feather presentation at the ISC/08. Jim Ballew will discuss Appro's experiences in building the first Intel(R) Cluster Ready certified 40Gb/s InfiniBand cluster based on Quad-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processors. Richard Dracott -- General Manager of Intel's HPC unit, Gilad Shainer, Technical Marketing Director of Mellanox -- will be on hand for questions.
