June 9, 2008

Telkomsel, a provider of cellular telecommunications services in Indonesia, and Research In Motion, launched a new prepaid option for BlackBerry internet service in Indonesia.

The new offering from Telkomsel allows customers to activate BlackBerry Internet Service easily and conveniently via short messaging service (SMS) and their service is automatically disabled if there is insufficient credit in their account.

BlackBerry internet service is designed for smaller businesses and individuals. It allows customers to access up to 10 supported corporate and personal e-mail accounts (including popular ISP email accounts such as, Yahoo! Mail and Google Mail) from a single device.

Norm Lo, vice president of Asia Pacific at Research In Motion (RIM), said: “We have enjoyed a very productive relationship with Telkomsel, and we look forward to expanding our presence in the market with this new prepaid service. The BlackBerry solution is a proven, best-in-class mobility tool that is popular around the world, and we are pleased to be working with Telkomsel to bring the many benefits of the BlackBerry solution to an even wider audience in Indonesia.”
