T-Mobile Sues Starbucks Over Free Wi-Fi Service
June 10, 2008
T-Mobile USA has filed a lawsuit against coffee chain Starbucks alleging the company has breached an agreement for T-Mobile to provide Wi-Fi access in its cafes.
T-Mobile has been providing a chargeable Wi-Fi service to Starbucks for the past seven-years. It claims that it holds exclusive rights to sell Wi-Fi Internet access at Starbucks stores until January 2009. However, it alleges that AT&T has started to offer a free Wi-Fi service to Starbucks customers, which undercuts its chargeable service.
