NEC Corporation of America Receives Network Products Guide 2008 Product Innovation Award

Posted on: Tuesday, 10 June 2008, 09:00 CDT

NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a premier provider of network, IT and identity management solutions announced today that Network Products Guide, a Silicon Valley Communications publication and a world leading publication on technologies and solutions has named the NLite(TM) E point-to-point microwave radio solution, a winner of the 2008 Product Innovation Award.

This annually venerated award recognizes and honors vendors from all over the world with innovative and ground-breaking products that are bringing essential and incremental changes and are setting the bar higher for others in all areas of information technology.

As LTE, WiMAX and next-generation IP-based networks gain traction in the U.S., the demand for high-speed point-to-point wireless access systems will continue to grow. NEC's NLite E was specifically engineered to meet these network demands - incorporating a Gigabit Ethernet interface (GIG-E) to offer broadband, IP-based networks with advanced functionality, high-speed transport and superior reliability. A compact wireless solution, the NLite E is easy to configure and maintain, and is available in frequency bands of 6, 11, 18 and 23 GHz. "The goal of any product innovation must always remain a positive change, making or improving solutions better than before," says Rake Narang, editor-n-chief, Network Products Guide. "Innovative products such as NEC's NLite E digital microwave radio provides the critical technical infrastructure to enable high-speed digital transmission services to satisfy the needs for mobile and fixed network access links, private links, next-generation network services as well as temporary and emergency network capabilities."

"Network Products Guide's recognition of our NLite E system further validates our product as a powerful digital microwave radio solution for today's global operators," said Bruce Blain, vice president, Sales, Radio Communication Systems Division, NEC Corporation of America. "Product innovation is key to our customer commitment, and we continually seek to provide our customers with solutions that are innovative, intelligent and yield optimal investment value."

The NLite E is part of the NLite family of products, which employs a common platform to provide scalable configurations to respond to a diverse range of market needs. The NLite family offers a multi-mode transmission solution using 10/100 Base-T and T1 (1.544 Mbps) interfaces; and with the addition of the NLite E's Gigabit Ethernet interface, NEC can now enable throughput levels of over 150 Mbps within a 28 MHz bandwidth. The new system is also compatible with various interfaces including 1000BASE-T (copper) and 1000BASE-SX/LX (fiber), which allows for flexible adaptation to an all-IP network, for which continuous growth is expected.
