Pulse~LINK Showcases Whole-Home HD Video Distribution at CONNECTIONS(TM)

Posted on: Tuesday, 10 June 2008, 12:00 CDT

DALLAS, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Parks Associates and CEA(R) today announced Pulse~LINK as a gold sponsor of CONNECTIONS(TM): The Digital Living Conference and Showcase. The Ultra Wideband (UWB) semiconductor company will demonstrate its CWave(R) (http://www.pulselink.net/video/) networking solution for whole-home HD video distribution in booth #501 of the CONNECTIONS(TM) Showcase. Devices enabled with the CWave chipset allow HD video content, multi-channel audio and high-speed data located anywhere in the home to be shared room-to-room across the existing coax backbone and wirelessly within a room.

CONNECTIONS(TM), produced by Parks Associates in partnership with CEA, will be held June 24-26, 2008, at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Topics at this year's event include IPTV and "TV 2.0," bundled services, consumer storage, mobile applications and content, social and digital media, and home and lifestyle management.

"By 2012, worldwide deployment of home network devices will reach 1.2 billion, and more than one-third will enable entertainment and high-quality multimedia streaming," said Kurt Scherf, vice president, principal analyst, Parks Associates. "Consumers will put a premium on solutions that extend their viewing options while maintaining quality. Pulse~LINK's solution is elegant in its approach, supporting enhanced capacity and higher functionality through a unique mixed-media solution. We are looking forward to their technology showcase at CONNECTIONS(TM)."

The CWave(R) UWB chipset extends HD connectivity to a variety of devices in the home, including set-top boxes, HDTVs, DVRs, DVD players, gaming devices, Media Center PCs, and other multimedia equipment.

Pulse~LINK will demonstrate CWave(R) Wireless-for-HDMI and CWave(R) Ethernet-Over-Coax solutions at the show. With the integration of CWave(R) Wireless-for-HDMI, digital displays can be mounted anywhere in a room without needing to run data cabling from the TV to the content source. Pulse~LINK's CWave(R) Ethernet-Over-Coax platform networks up to nine HD multimedia content source and display devices throughout the home with end-to-end Quality of Service over existing coax cabling and splitters, eliminating the high expense of re-wiring a home with Ethernet cables. Pulse~LINK's demonstration of its Ethernet-Over-Coax solution will also showcase CWave's coexistence with other signals, such as MoCA(R) technology, on the same coax cable.

"As a tightly focused gathering of industry leaders addressing the issues, opportunities and developments in digital media services, CONNECTIONS has been an ideal venue to showcase the evolution of our CWave technology," states Bruce Watkins, President and Chief Operating Officer for Pulse~LINK. "In past years, we unveiled evolving prototypes. This year, we will showcase CWave technology as the highest performing commercially available solution for wired and wireless High Definition networking -- leveraging Ethernet, 1394 and HDMI interface transports."

Watkins will also participate on the panel "Fun Without Cords: Wireless Networking for Multimedia" on June 26, moderated by Parks Associates analyst, Harry Wang.
