June 11, 2008

Text of report by independent daily newspaper Fiji Times website on 11 June

Sotia Central is gaining popularity since its launch last Saturday [7 June], being a social networking website dedicated to absolutely everything in regards to Fijians serving in foreign legions.

An associate site for The Fiji Times, Sotia Central aims at connecting Fijians serving in the armed forces overseas with friends and family back home.

Fiji Times marketing coordinator Foto Ledua said the idea of such a link has been dwelt upon for a long time, which is to create a site for social networking especially for the locals.

“We have seen a lot of locals registering on other websites such as Facebook, Hi5 and others on the world-wide web, however, Sotia Central will give the locals a homely feeling to it,” she said.

Sotia (meaning Soldier) Central aims to fully capture the essence of army life, army wives, army entertainment, army hook ups, and other fun stuff, that our men and women get up to while serving.
