Iamba and Wintegra to Develop GPON Solution

Posted on: Wednesday, 11 June 2008, 09:00 CDT

Iamba Networks, a provider of gigabit passive optical networking solutions, and Wintegra, a provider of silicon and software for broadband access aggregation solutions, have announced collaboration to develop a GPON solution for multiple dwelling units.

Iamba's iSN1000D gigabit passive optical networking (GPON) SoC will be integrated with Wintegra's WinArrow2 product family creating a high-end solution for GPON multiple dwelling unit application for VDSL2 end users.

Both the companies claimed that the joint solution will provide superior QoS on both the downstream and upstream, full compliance with the DSL Forum technical specifications, WT-156 and full programmability and future proofing through the Wintegra WinArrow2 NPU architecture. Additional benefits of the jointly developed product include covering a range of port densities from as few as eight ports and up to 48 ports, WinArrow's software offering, including set of data path and control path stacks, and Iamba's end-to-end GPON software offering, including OMCI management stack.

John Mein, vice president of sales and marketing at Iamba Networks, said: "Iamba's products are optimized for various markets and we believe there is a market need for a solution that provides flexibility that the operators require while also delivering the service customers demand. A jointly developed product from Iamba and Wintegra enables us to deliver a solution that addresses the needs of both."
