Nokia Expands Telkomsel's Packet Core Network to Enable Next-Generation Services in Indonesia

ESPOO, Finland, April 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Nokia has signed an agreement with leading Indonesian operator Telkomsel to expand its packet core network in Indonesia. With this deal Telkomsel will be able to address the strong demand for mobile voice and data services from its rapidly increasing subscriber base, which currently stands at more than 17.5 million.

Under the contract Nokia is supplying 3GPP packet core network solution and related services including implementation, project management, planning and optimization, Nokia NetAct(TM) Traffica and Nokia NetAct(TM) network and service management system. Deliveries have already begun and implementation is ongoing.

Nokia has been working with Telkomsel since 1996, providing GSM, GPRS and EDGE infrastructure and turnkey services for the operator's network.

Nokia has approximately 100 packet core references globally.

Nokia can draw on its over 15-year track record of implementing and operating networks and its extensive practical experience of implementing mobile services for operators. Nokia has contracted operating services for over 20 operators globally, in addition to providing full turnkey implementations for a total of 27 customers in 22 countries. Nokia NetAct has been delivered to over 300 customers worldwide.
