Polycom ARENA partners Global Media Group and MyVRM will demonstrate their integrated solutions within the Polycom booth (no. N6019) at the Infocomm Conference and Expo June 18-20, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“Part of the Polycom VC2 vision for moving customers to the next generation of integrated, high-quality visual communications solutions, the Polycom ARENA program is about expanding the possibilities for real-time communication and collaboration and driving new applications that address specific customer needs,” said Mark Roberts, vice president, Polycom ARENA program. “Within a year, Polycom ARENA partners have brought more than twenty new solutions to market. Many of these are industry-first solutions addressing previously unmet needs. We are excited about the momentum of this program and are pleased to welcome our newest partners.”

Polycom ARENA Success Story — Expanding Medical and Healthcare Applications

Polycom ARENA Partner AudiSoft Technologies is helping to expand applications for real-time visual communications in medicine and healthcare, including enabling a new category of “telegeriatrics” with the largest public hospital in Paris, France. AudiSoft’s Frontline Communicator is a wireless, compact, and lightweight video-communication system that provides maximum mobility for remote support and distance training applications. Integration with Polycom visual communications endpoints allows healthcare professionals using the Frontline Communicator to have a discussion with a patient at a remote location and transmit video images of what they are seeing back to healthcare professionals at the hospital.

Pierre Espinoza (MD) at European Hospital Georges Pompidou (HEGP) uses Frontline Communicator and Polycom HDX high definition telepresence solutions in three regions and twelve medical establishments in emergency services, teleconsultation and dermatology applications such as remote wound diagnostics. With an aging population that is experiencing extended longevity, HEGP is currently expanding the use of the integrated solution to Telegeriatrics. HEGP believes this will enable it to deliver high-quality healthcare services to elderly patients while minimizing possible stress and anxiety for the patient.

Polycom ARENA Success Story — Delivering Converged Voice/Data Wireless Networks in Hospitality

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts manages exclusive properties worldwide and is dedicated to setting the highest standards of service and offering guests one-of-a-kind amenities and experiences. Working with Polycom ARENA partner Colubris, long-standing Colubris partner and systems integrator CLC Networks, and Premier Mitel Hospitality partner DCI-Design, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has deployed a converged voice/data wireless network at two of its properties — The Mansion on Peachtree (a brand-new hotel and luxury residence in Atlanta) and Rosewood Mayakoba in Mexico. Leveraging the Colubris WLAN and Polycom SpectraLink(R) wireless phones, support staff have access to voice communications throughout the property, allowing front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, dining/catering and security personnel to remain in close contact and respond quickly to individual requests. The solution has also eliminated the need for staff to carry cell phones, providing a more cost-effective and reliable communications solution.

The Mansion on Peachtree is also leveraging the Colubris WLAN to provide unlimited voice communications, to offer guests Internet access at all indoor locations and to support other key mobile devices, such as its Point-of-Sale terminals.

“As we deploy additional voice over WLAN applications for hospitality organizations, we will continue to leverage Colubris’ certification with the Polycom Voice Interoperability for Enterprise Wireless (VIEW) Certification Program,” said Michael Wagoner, vice president of engineering for CLC Networks. “The fact that Colubris’ WLAN solutions can easily support SpectraLink wireless telephones makes it easy for our customers to leverage a single WLAN infrastructure for much more than data applications, ensuring that on-the-move employees benefit from secure, uninterrupted voice performance.”

Polycom ARENA Success Story — Accelerating the Speed of Innovation

The Arnell Group is a multi-disciplinary brand and product invention company with a global base of customers and partners. The firm was looking for a solution to be able to collaborate with clients and outside resources without traveling around the world. Arnell Group deployed the Polycom HDX 9000(TM) flexible telepresence solution, which features HD video, HD voice and HD multimedia content collaboration capabilities. Telepresence allows Arnell Group employees to work more effectively and efficiently with customers and partners across distances, sharing dynamic multimedia content in real-time, and portraying the image of the Arnell Group. The telepresence system is installed in a chic glass atrium conference room. However, the acoustics in this showcase room are extremely problematic. Security was also a concern because the Arnell Group’s work is so cutting-edge. The Revolabs Solo Executive Wireless Microphone System and the Polycom Vortex audio processing system combined to solve these problems by offering stylish tabletop microphones with no wires, secure encrypted data, and great sound. The seamless solution of Polycom and Revolabs, a Polycom ARENA partner, epitomizes Arnell Group’s corporate image and delivers the performance that the company’s clients demand.

New Polycom ARENA partners announced today bring potential for further extending applications for Polycom voice and visual communications solutions.

Integrated scheduling and management appliance for multipoint video conferencing

Polycom ARENA partner Hitachi Cable Networks enables end users and IT managers to reserve and manage conferencing resources with an easy-to-use Conference @ Adapter appliance. An intuitive, web-based interface allows participants to reserve a conference, join a meeting, or dial-out to other participants from anywhere. Its highly customizable interface enables IT Managers to tailor for operational policies of their environment. In addition, the systems configuration can be backed up to a flash drive, enabling a fast recovery in case of a system failure. The appliance-based system offers centralized management and security and requires very minimal administration to deploy and maintain, lowering the total cost to ownership. The Conference @ Adapter is integrated with Polycom RMX 2000(TM) and MGC(TM) line of bridges.

Performance and quality for streaming video, video-on-demand, and voice over IP

Polycom ARENA partner Anagran provides compact, high-capacity IP networking devices that relieve network congestion to ensure flawless delivery of streaming video, video-on-demand, and voice over IP (VoIP) in any IP network. Anagran’s FR-1000 consistently delivers the highest levels of guaranteed performance and quality in both service provider and enterprise networks powered by Polycom voice and visual communications systems, while significantly reducing overall network costs and energy consumption.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) for Polycom SoundPoint IP phones

Polycom ARENA partner PowerDsine is the inventor and innovator of Power over Ethernet technology. PowerDsine(R) Systems provide an easy, cost-efficient way to supply power over existing Ethernet infrastructures (PoE) for most Polycom SoundPoint(R) IP phones. A single Ethernet cable can transmit both data and power to Polycom, SoundPoint IP phones eliminating the need to install new power outlets. Because PowerDsine midspans augment existing communications switches, they also avoid the installation of costly new PoE switches. The integration includes PowerView Pro(TM) management software that enables comprehensive remote control of power — from the universal power supply to the end devices — for improved energy efficiency, reduced electrical costs and enhanced troubleshooting capabilities. The PowerDsine Systems portfolio includes midspan models able to supply up to 32 watts of power and with Gigabit capabilities for the growing number of high power network devices.

Fast installation, easy wiring and greatly improved aesthetics for mounted applications

Polycom ARENA partner Vantage Point Products provides mounting and installation products for A/V equipment. Vantage Point’s evo system(TM) is a complete mounting solution simplifying installation into any wall type with its patented structural frame design. Removable panels make wire and power routing easily accessible without cutting into walls. The panels are available finished with real wood veneer or can be customized with almost any covering. Vantage Point’s evo system and accessories enable fast and easy installation of Polycom video conferencing equipment. The evo system will allow Polycom customers to install monitors, cameras, conferencing equipment, and peripherals on one intergraded system while making it appear totally custom. Retro fitting conference rooms can be done by on-site staff and the systems modularity provides for future technology upgrades making the evo system the perfect platform for any Polycom video conferencing system. Evolve your conferencing room into a state of the art space functionally and aesthetically.

Polycom ARENA ecosystem partners can develop, test and certify interoperability between their solutions and the Polycom platform of voice, video and content collaborative solutions. In addition to platform APIs for developers, the Polycom ARENA offers a number of marketing and sales tools for business development managers, marketing and sales professionals via online portal.
