CitySquares.Com Announces Major East Coast Expansion

Posted on: Monday, 16 June 2008, 09:00 CDT

BOSTON, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- CitySquares.com, the premiere hyper-local search site serving Boston and its metropolitan area, is expanding into all of New England, New York City and eastern New York State. Beginning June 13, the number of local businesses featured on the CitySquares.com website will number over 1.5 million-a 2400% increase over its current offering.

Ben Saren, CEO of CitySquares.com, says the expansion beyond metro-Boston is part of the company's strategic plan to bring together local businesses with their consumers by providing hyper-local content. "What we have seen in Boston and with our recent expansion into the surrounding communities is that consumers appreciate the opportunity to have one website that highlights the local businesses that make their neighborhoods and communities unique. We are thrilled to make this kind of hyper-local search available for millions of consumers in New England and eastern New York State."

Since its launch in 2005, CitySquares.com has been providing local businesses with an opportunity to reach out a targeted local online audience through its highly trafficked, consumer-facing website. Businesses are able to fully customize their CitySquares.com advertising campaign with SEO tools, content management, content syndication tools, email newsletters, video, offline tools, and much more. Users are able to easily find this content, rate businesses, review them, and contribute other kinds of content.

"With this expansion we're following our original model of taking a bottoms-up approach to building an online community based on neighborhood and community locales. We believe in digital delivery and analog relationships. While 45% of local merchants have websites, they are mostly brochure-sites. The 55% that don't have websites are ready for an online presence. CitySquares.com proposes to effectively become their online presence, by providing rich, comprehensive content that they can easily update and manage on their own and that is targeted to a relevant and qualified local online audience," Saren says.
