Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) Presents XCalibur4100
Posted on: Monday, 16 June 2008, 09:00 CDT
Extreme Engineering has once again answered the embedded system developer's ubiquitous question: "How can I improve my 6U CompactPCI system performance without escalating power requirements or jettisoning critical features?" Full speed ahead with the XCalibur4100, a sturdy product designed to be light on power and quick in performance.
The XCalibur4100 combines the low-power Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo processor with industry standard USB, SATA, Gigabit Ethernet, Serial (RS-232 / RS-422), and DVI-I (Analog and Digital Graphics) interfaces. Up to 8 GB of DDR2 SDRAM puts "wind in the sails" of any memory intensive application. An expansion XMC / PMC slot provides easy product customization. An optional RTM module is available and allows access to all front panel interfaces, as well as audio line-out and line-in.
"Combining Intel's processing advantage with low-power graphics and mezzanine support has created the ideal flexible platform," states Ben Klam, Vice President of Engineering for X-ES. "By offering Intel Core 2 Duo processor clock speeds from 1.06 GHz to 2.16 GHz, the XCalibur4100 meets a wide range of performance / power requirements," Klam added.
Availability
A streamlined, "light clipper" configuration of the XCalibur4100 is available for as low as $1,980 in volume. A full-featured, "first-rate flagship" configuration is also available for $4,995. Cost is based on processor speed, memory configuration, and graphics support. Multiple configurations are currently shipping with INTEGRITY, QNX, VxWorks and Windows software support.
